Salesforce – Global UI Customizations

Read to learn more about Salesforce – Global UI Customizations. Learn to work with organization wide settings as an administrator in the Classic interface. Lightening will be covered in a series of upcoming posts.

Navigate to Setup > Customize > User Interface

Uncheck the “Show Quick Create” button which will disable this page component:

Disable Quick Create in order to prevent users from creating records without validation.

Another great feature to enable for the org is a collapsible side-bar. This can be toggled on in the User Interface customizations:

The “Enable Click-and-Create Events on Calendar Views” setting is also useful and its sub-item “Enable Drag-and-Drop Scheduling on List Views” too.

See https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.customizeactivities_eventcaloptions.htm&type=5 for reference.

For the first, you can double-click on a specific timeslot in classic calendars and it opens a modal for creating the event. This is similar to default Lightning behavior:

The second option surfaces an “Open Calendar” link on the bottom of certain views. When clicked, it opens a split view with the data table above a calendar. From there, you can drag down an entity / record into the calendar and an Event form is provided.

Here’s another good one: the Profile interface can be a bit daunting. It’s a large page which scrolls through the many available settings and options with minimal categorization and organization.

By going to “User Management Settings” (directly above “Profiles”), the following to settings can be enabled:

Afterwards the Profile Management screen is significantly compressed and options organized / categorized in a much more digestible format. There’s also a nice search feature in the top navigation bar.

And, with that, we have a demonstration of a few key default User Interface settings. There are dozens more to explore.
