There are a few Salesforce – Display and Layout Customizations available at both the per-user and org-wide level. And, not unexpectedly, there are different options available whether one is in classic vs. Lightning UI. See the screenshot below with Classic on the Left and Lightning on the right:
Starting with Classic – Customize Tabs, we are presented with a Available / Selected tabs UI. Note that there is a “Custom App” drop-down which updates which tabs are populated:
It is also possible to update navigation in Lightning, which is essentially the same feature:
The classic interface offers something similar to this Lightning experience to get back to the same page. That is seen as shown below on the Sales app Home page for example:
If one clicks the “Customize My Tabs” button, then Salesforce redirects to the Classic “Customize My Tabs” page originally shown above.
Classic and Lightning both offer a near identical experience for the “Customize My Pages” experience too. See below with Classic on the left and Lightning on the right:
In the next screenshot, see that the Classic interface has a quick link directly on the page for customization. I do not see that option in Lightning. Classic is the page in the back below:
Unlike Navigation, the changes made to Page components in Classic reflect the same on Lightning and vice-versa.
There are other options related to Accessibility (in Classic) and Record Page Settings (in Lightning) as well.
This was a review of the Display and Layout customization options in Salesforce.
